To all 3 Clubs: Scotia-Glenville, Guilderland, Schenectady
Dock Out will start Sunday at 9:00 at Mohawk Valley Marine. Bob decided to take our docks out before Burnt Hills docks come out.
We need a hearty crew of rowers and parents to take the docks apart, and help load them on the flat bed trailer. After the docks are out, we will take our launches out and remove the motors for winterization.
See you all at the Marina in Alplaus at 9:00 Sunday. Wear warm clothing and bring gloves.

I think that anyone that came with us to Head of the Charles in Boston this past weekend would tell you that it was quite an amazing experience. Some of the best crews in the nation came to the HOCR, which is a two-day regatta. Also, checking out the vendors and merchant tents that they had there was cool as well. With competition as tough as it was, the Schenectady/Scotia-Glenville/Guilderland teams did very well. Results are as follows:
Mens Youth 4+-57th place
Womens Youth 4+-53rd place
Both boats are entered as Scotia-Glenville Rowing Association.

Over the past two weeks, we have not had to travel, instead launching from our own dock and racing on the Mohawk. Last week was the Burnt Hills race, Spartan Sweeps, which is a grueling 7 mile course. Results for that race can be found here: http://burnthillsrowing.com/spartanSweeps/regatta_08_race_results.html
This past week, we raced in Mohawk Cup, which is hosted by Niskayuna. The course for this race is more traditional, 3 miles in length from Freeman’s Bridge to Rexford Bridge. Results are as follows:
Novices Boys 4+ - Schenectady Boys A took 2nd place in 19:50min.
Novice Girls 4+ - Schenectady Girls A took 1st place in 22:00min.
Varsity Boys 4A - Schenectady Boys took 2nd place in 16:43min.
Varsity Boys 2x - Schenectady Boys took the race in 17:54min.

The Head of the Hudson was the first race that Schenectady has rowed since we merged with Guilderland and Scotia-Glenville clubs under Coach Aiken. Despite forcasts for low temperatures and heavy rain, it turned out to be a beautiful day for racing. Results were as follows:
Girl’s Jr Novice 4 - 4th place Timed at 24:48:30
Boys Jr. Double - 1st place timed at 18:19:00 Special Kudos to Seaton Drebitko and Ben Clark
Boy’s Jr. Novice 4 - 4th place timed at 21:06:10
Boy’s Jr. Varsity 4 - 2nd place timed at 19:56:30
Girl’s Jr. Varsity 4- A-Boat 3rd place timed at 21:19:30
B-Boat 7th place timed at 23:58:40
Girl’s Jr. 8 -5th place timed at 21:37:00.
Coach Aiken adds:
“The varsity girls need to be acknowledged for their endurance. The Girl’s Jr. 8 race was bumped up in time and the varsity girls were literally getting out of their 4’s and stepping into the 8. The rest of the team supported the girls by taking their 4’s out of the water and up to the trailer. Kudos to all of you for teamwork.
Thanks to all the crew moms and dads who fed and watered us and kept ringing the cow bells until all the rowers finished.
Good Racing!”

More information on the race can be found at: http://albanyrowingcenter.org Once there click on Head of the Hudson.
This link will also give you driving directions to the race site, which is at the Albany Rowing Center.
Directions from Schenectady, Scotia and Guilderland
Take the Thruway East to Exit 24 and follow I90 to I-787 toward Albany. From I-787, take Exit4A/Columbia Street. SLOW DOWN-you will be turning into the parking lot directly from the exit ramp. Look for the first LEFT hand turn into the parking lot. If you miss the first one, there is a second entrance a little bit beyond that. There will be parking attendants at all entrances directing traffic the morning of the regatta.
The Albany Boat House is tucked underneath the highway, at the far end of the parking lot, adjacent to the Albany Public Boat Launch, and the start of the Corning Preserve Bike Trail.

Last weekend, Schenectady Crew traveled out to Rochester, NY and stayed overnight for the Pittsford Regatta. Competition there was tough, with either Pittsford or Fairport in all of the finals. I would say that we did well, all the teams there were really competitive. We had a fun time off the water too, hanging out and bonding in the hotel and when we went to dinner at Chili’s. Results for all the races can be found here:
